Preventive Dental Care

Routine dental care matters.

Oral hygiene is important for more than just your pet’s smile. Regular dental cleanings help safeguard your pet against painful gum disease that can make it difficult for your pet to chew or eat properly. Additionally, bacteria that build up in the gums can travel through the bloodstream and impact other organs.

Our dental services at Hope Veterinary Clinic include teeth cleaning and polishing, digital dental x-rays, tooth extractions, and oral surgery.

Why x-rays? Because most of your pet’s tooth lies below the gum line. Our digital dental radiographs can identify any oral pathology, including periodontal disease, abscessed roots, oral tumors, impacted teeth, and resorptive lesions (in cats) so that a dental care plan can be created for your pet right away.

While our doctors will visually examine your pet’s teeth during every check-up, we do recommend scheduling a thorough dental exam for your cat or dog each year. Please give us a call to schedule your pet’s dental exam or if you notice any of the following warning signs between visits:

  • Missing/loose teeth
  • Chronic bad breath
  • Swollen/bleeding gums
  • Excessive drooling and/or pawing at the mouth
  • Difficulty eating or tilting the head when chewing
  • Lumps on the gums or in the mouth

Call one of our locations to schedule your pet’s oral health assessment or dental cleaning.
